ALAN OLSAN

For seekers, students, and would-be reformers , who in their pursuit of Jesus Christ and His Church, may find in the story of Caspar Schwenckfeld inspiration to live in the reality and simplicity of Christ.

This book is wonderful and very easy to read. It is a great presentation of Schwenckfeld's life and of the Reformation.

About the book

Caspar Schwenckfeld: Between Tyranny And Anarchy is a semi-fictional account of the turmoil and upheaval of the early decades of the Protestant Reformation. Perhaps less known than others, Caspar Schwenckfeld was a successful 16th Century reformer in his own right. In these pages, he reveals his own disappointments, conflicts, and hopes for the future, through the eyes of his friend and colleague, Jacob Held. All of the conversation and other details that make up the narrative are derived from real letters, pamphlets and other writings of Schwenckfeld’s. Anyone interested in the life and death struggle between tyranny and anarchy that was the Protestant Reformation will enjoy this book.

About the author

Alan Olsan has been a devoted student of the Radical Reformation since the 1980s, with an emphasis on the life and thought of Caspar Schwenckfeld. A childhood in a conservative Lutheran congregation, as well as participation in the Jesus Movement and Charismatic Renewal in the 1970’s, provided fertile ground for the ideas of the Silesian reformer.
